Did you ever wonder what the purpose of the PA State Republican Committee was? Maybe you didn't even know that such a thing existed? Why is it that one cannot find out any information about it?
The answer is simple - they don't want you to know anything about it. You just need to accept the results of what it does.
After a bit of digging, here is what I found out. The State Republican Committee has the following mission:
Here's a Quick question for you. Four years ago, you elected Butler County's slate of representatives to the PA Republican State Committee. Have any of the people that you elected to that committee ever come back and asked you what you would like to see included on the State GOP Platform? If your answer is no, don't feel like you are alone - I've talked to a lot of people about this and none of them have ever been contacted either.
Have you noticed your PA State Republican Commiteeperson calling public meetings with farmers, manufacturers, small business people, or parents to get input for the GOP platform? Nope, neither have I; nor has anyone that I know.
How about the the County GOP Committee? How much does the State GOP Committee engage them to help define the GOP platform? The answer is not much; a fact that frustrates our County GOP Committee.
There you have it folks - a small group of people are determining our party's platform with evidently no input from "We The People" and no transparency. Certainly not an ideal situation.
Well, are we at least getting excellent statewide candidates out of the deal? Ya know - ones who want to make sure that the people of our county are being properly represented? It seems to me that one would only consider the type of statewide candidates, whom the State Committee generally advances, to be excellent if they favored entrenched, establishment politicians. How about you?
The candidates who are elected should be dedicated to putting the people of Butler County first. They should be individuals who will serve their constituency with the utmost integrity and be willing to operate with transparency.
The people who pay for government should have final say in defining what the platform is. It is the job of those elected to State Republican Committee slots representing Butler County to facilitate this!
